The Lion Whisperer

I have often fantasized that I'm this guy. The relationship he has with those cats is nothing short of amazing.
I love big cats. In fact, I have an entire board dedicated to them on Pinterest…go ahead, check it out!
And of course you know I can't resist sharing a few of the beautiful pictures here.

They're just such beautiful creatures.

Oh and speaking of kitties…my very own kitty had to go into surgery last week :(

But she's okay! She did great and is recovering well.

I think it's obvious by now that my favorite animals are cats (although I struggle with even choosing a favorite, I just love animals so much!)

What's your favorite animal?

An Epic-ly Awesome, "Amrazing" Night

On Friday night, I attended a stop on Jason Mraz's "Tour is a Four Letter Word" in my home state of New Jersey.

To clarify, I am not a concert person…I'm not particularly fond of crowds and there are not many artists that I feel strongly enough about that I would spend money to see them in person.

But for Jason, I broke all of those rules. My parents bought me tickets for my 22nd birthday this year and I was thrilled and overjoyed that I was going to get to see him live!

To make things even better, his "tour partner" was Christina Perri and I happen to really love her vocals and originality.

And I have to say, that I did succumb to "concert behavior"…somewhat…I screamed as loud as everyone else (with the result of a nice, sore throat the next day) and I sang along to every song, my voice getting lost along with his and everyone else's. (Thank God, because I really can't sing…hehe)

I brought my friend Heather along and we had a really great time eating churros before the show, quoting Psych and just generally goofing off (aka, being ourselves).

I loved every second of it.

To cap it all off, he played "Plane", which is an older song of his that I thought I had NO chance of hearing. It was a wonderful surprise to hear something I really wasn't expecting.

He was funny (see below), he did yoga (tree pose, see photo) during one of his songs; he inspired and captivated me all over again.

Soooo….get ready to be photo-bombed!! I took a ridiculous amount of pictures, so I picked out some of the best ones to show you…enjoy!

To start the night off, my dad rented an awesome Mustang to bring us to the concert!
Christina Perri Singing "Jar of Hearts"
I love this picture!
This one too!

Jason going into tree pose during "Make it Mine" :)
Awesome background effect for "Only Human"
Playing"I'm Coming Over/Hidden Track"…love this song….
His keys player also plays the accordion!! Cool!!
Some more of the awesome background graphics for "Butterfly"

"I'm Yours"
He sang Bob Marley!! "Three Little Birds"
Jason and Christina singing their duet, "Distance"
The band, taking a bow
Saying goodbye :(

While introducing the band (in the middle of a song) he continued to play his guitar, but then said, "I'm just playing some nonsense chords…I can't talk and play at the same time..weird right? If I was singing, it would all make sense."

Insert copious amounts of laughter here. :) …and a little bit of beautiful understanding…it does all make sense when he sings. I'm so glad I got to experience his music live, it was amrazingly magical!

Jason Mraz Webisodes - A Day With Jason & Toca

"…after that, I start to forage…"

"…is it gonna be a whole salad, half a salad; half an enthusiastic salad…"

"…or I'll find a shower…"

"…I guess, if you wanted to…you could take a 7 hour shower…"

"...I'd hate to have to be the person that has to dust this place…"

Toca you're hilarious.

America's Got Talent, That's For Sure...

I watch America's Got Talent every week. There are lots of really talented people and performers on the show, but the ones I find most entertaining are the ones who use their imagination.

These two videos show the group Silhouettes performing two different routines. The first one is their audition in Minneapolis and the second is last week's performance.

I love these routines because of their innovation. The dancing is flawless, the concept is ingenious. In the second video, they actually form the silhouettes of American monuments and buildings, which are then superimposed over the kids' shadows, which (if you watch) shows how spot-on they are/have to be with their positions.

All in all I just think they're a really great act and they deserve to go far in the competition.

I'm pretty sure it's no surprise by now that I love So You Think You Can Dance….
being a dancer myself, I love to watch dance finally get it's own TV show, where amazing choreographers, dancers, and other people in the business can be seen and recognized as the amazing artists they are.

There are two videos I'd like to share with you, but embedding for these videos was disabled, so you have to travel to YouTube to view them.

The first is a hip-hop routine by Tabitha and Napoleon danced by Alex Wong (who, shortly after this routine pulled his achilles and was unable to dance the rest of the season) and Twitch, who I've also posted about, here.

But before you watch it, you need a little background on Alex Wong….he's a ballet dancer. He's amazing. And he successfully (well actually more than successfully) does what every ballet dancer fears most…he's makes hip-hop look like his first style.

Check it out.

The second video is Ellen Degeneres doing Alex's part in the hip-hop dance as a tribute to Alex in the finale, after he got injured and couldn't dance.

I don't know whether I should say that it's good or funny. It's kind of both. Ellen does an awesome job considering she's not a dancer. (Although she does do a lot of dancing on her show…)

Check it out here.

Let me know what you think!

Introducing the Chromebook

My Mom's netbook recently got wet, so I told her she should get a Chromebook. Of course, she didn't know what that was, so I found her this video released by Google to help her understand.

The video enforces why I love Google so much. Their incredible sense of humor that makes this video not only informative but actually interesting to watch, is great.

Chromebooks are currently being pre-ordered, the model I want my Mom to get, being released mid-July, according to Amazon:

They're definitely worth taking a look into if you need a handy, portable, computer to do internet tasks. (Which is all my Mom needs it for.)

So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 Is HOT!

Melanie has been my favorite this season every since I saw her solo audition:

She appears to dance in water…it's amazing.

Lil' C says, "Zeus himself would invite you to dance on Olympus…"

Marko is my favorite boy in the top 20, he was shot and the bullet is still lodged in his shoulder!

They're both amazingly graceful and acrobatic, without being gymnastic…to watch them dance together just made me want to get up off the couch and dance myself.

Not to mention Travis Wall's choreography of their statue piece was ridiculously beautiful and a piece I could watch on repeat forever…

Enjoy!
